Christiane Baumgartner
The reason I like Christiane Baumgartner's work so much is because of her use of lines to create an abstract view of realistic places with an optical illusion twist, her work reminds me of lithography carvings before used to print. from this I researched that her chosen technique for her artwork was through using monochrome woodcuts and video stills. Her main aspect of her work is based around "materiality and immateriality", she creates her artwork on wood to create a sense of experience and weight to an unexperienced moment, something that happens within a split second that nobody would pay attention to, this could be at any time.

Richard Deacon
The reason that I find Richard Deacon's artwork really inspiring is because of the unusual creative sculptures he creates, these overlap and wrap around themselves, these sculptures are almost organic style, architectural designs within early stages of becoming something new and interesting, a bit similar to a wire frame design before the foundations are added. I also like the locations that he places his sculptures as they are usually in wide open spaces on their own as though they have a sole purpose to be there in the room. when I see these, I sense a certain aspect of "originality","creativity" and "individuality".
The artwork to me when i look at it gives the message of "it isn't something that is meant to be but whatever you want it to be". there is a great sense of flexibility and strength that comes out of his sculptures and also shows that it takes time effort and teamwork to hold something great together. Deacon's art is very focused on line and form but I also think that negative space and presence are also main factors of his work.

Marcel Duchamp
Marcel Duchamp is well known for being an inspiration to many artists, his idea of artwork was to reject everything known, he proved a point that anything could be considered art such as the bicycle wheel on a stool or the urinal with the initials R.Mutt which was placed in an anonymous exhibition. more than anything I like Duchamp's ideas and concepts as well as exploring and experimenting with what we have and know and taking this further, to merge them together, to interact with and inspire others.
Artwork is not just meant to be to look at it should be something that can be felt, looked around, walked through, an example being his "mile of string" in which he laced a gallery space with string and the audience had no choice but to walk through and explore it from all angles. To me I feel that Duchamp was one of the avant garde artists, a spokesman for change in the artworld and what seemed like one of the most leading well known artists of his time period.

H.R Giger
I am very fascinated with Giger's Biomechanical artwork, the art of merging human anatomy with machines sounds really interesting to work with, in a way I find it very cyberpunk style with a modernist nature in a similar way to which the bauhaus worked with forms and shapes to create their furniture and artwork. There is a sleek shiny new future idea within each drawing and sculpture that he designs. The forms themselves almost appear to be musical. To me I see a similarity between H.R Giger and umberto boccioni's futurism paintings, both were motivated by movement and new technology however i feel that with these there are less colorful images, sharper and bolder tones yet still show movement (to myself anyway). I myself see Giger as a futurist but also as an inventor, merging both anatomy and machine as one, which one day could happen. Giger was most famous for creating the setting of the Alien films.

DJ Simpson
The reason I like DJ Simpson's artwork is because of the size of the artwork, I like the patterns created. The images are almost overwhelming due to the size of them. The lines look carved and drilled, slightly crazy and random with bold colors and shapes, they also look as though they have been painted over and masking tape has been applied. these would be very interesting prints.
