(Ba Hons) Fine Art Year 2 Research

While at a local hardware store (B&Q) I came across a few different appliances that I thought could come in handy for research towards my artwork

As I began looking into mechanical imagery and small components I decided to include my camera tripod within this as it has an interesting form to work with.

On my travels I saw many trains, with this there were many interesting complex machinery pieces that were revealed which I quickly took photographs of.

While in Plymouth i took a lot of photographs of the city and its surroundings which I found very useful to work with, especially the architecture of drake circus.

I soon ventured down to the docks and found old rusted chains which i thought would be interesting for texture within my work as well as the forms of the images themselves.

I am very fascinated with shipyards as they look very busy, I liked the idea of how the boats sat in front of each other in this photo which got me thinking about layering my images.

This was an interesting piece which i found while venturing through the city, the artists name could not be found but I did like the idea of building up over the artwork to create a cut up effect of the art to make it look bigger and also to give it more of a concept and meaning to the image.

These photographs were taken within the Plymouth Museum which I spent many hours looking around finding more organic and mechanical imagery which relates back to the artwork i intended to create for my project.

Again i am very fond of ships of all shapes, forms and sizes, i especially liked these models which i admired the craftsmanship of to build, the reason I looked at these was because of the older technology on ships that is no longer used, the line the shape, form and presentation.

I also have a large fondness for clockwork of all forms, especially vintage looking grandfather clocks, I am interested in how something works and the components that are made to create it to make it tick.
